You can open a Government Scholarship Savings Account only if you do not have any other Savings Account with Axis Bank. Please find below the different eligibility criteria required to open an account.
Ensure your eligibility
An individual residing in India who does not have an existing savings account in Axis Bank, prior to opening the Government Scholarship Savings Account (If an existing account exists, it needs to be closed in order for the individual to be eligible for the Government Scholarship Savings Account and once the Government Scholarship Savings Account is opened, the individual cannot own another savings account in Axis Bank)
Documents required for Government Scholarship Savings Account
You will have to submit certain documents to open the Axis Bank Government Scholarship Savings Account. Keep your documents ready.
Documents for Government Scholarship Savings Account for an Individual:
- Two latest passport size photographs
- Address and identity proof documents

- Only a single copy of the document is required if it is listed under both address and identity proof, e.g. Passport / Aadhar Card
- If your mailing address and permanent address are different, you must provide address proof documents for both
- Since this account would fall under Direct Benefit Transfer hence AADHAAR updation is must for account operation.
- Additionally a letter from Institute/Government for receipt of Scholarship by the Student will also be collected at the time of account opening for opening these accounts.
