Fraudsters are on the prowl
Guard yourself against scammers who assume the identity of Axis Bank staff, using strategies like spoofed phone numbers, toll-free lines, text messages, or social media platforms. Their goal is to manipulate victims into providing sensitive personal and financial information.
How to protect yourself?
- Axis Bank never seeks any personal or financial credential details such as email ID, phone number, Credit Card details (CVV, expiry date, number) OTP, UPI PIN, bank account numbers, dates of birth, PAN or Aadhaar card details, etc. through any form of communication. Please do not share them with anyone.
- Axis Bank will always share text message from AxisBK or AxisMR.
- Do not ever respond to fake SMSs or emails. In case you have a doubt, before sharing any details, please confirm by calling us on the Axis Bank Phone Banking Numbers - 18604195555 / 18605005555 (local charges applicable) or 18001035577 (toll-free).
- At any point, if you suspect that the call is a vishing scam, hang up and block the number. Don’t try to carry on a conversation to be polite.
- Don’t press any buttons or give any response to any prompts from an automated message. Scammers could potentially record your voice to navigate voice-automated phone menus tied to any of your accounts, or they might use a “press X” option to identify targets for future calls.
- Verify the caller's identity before returning a call to an unidentified number. If the scammer claims to be from a certain company, search for the company’s public phone number on their official website and call that instead.
- Carefully listen to the caller and mentally flag if they’re using social engineering language that leverages fear or urgency, or “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” language.
- Remember, authentic bank representatives will allow you sufficient time to assess the situations and validate their claims. They will never offer a sense of urgency, fear or too good to be true incentives.
- Clicking on any suspect links may lead to downloading malware or phishing websites.
