Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) is a centralized bill payment system powered by NPCI. It is an interoperable, integrated, online platform developed for bill payments through digital and physical platforms. It is efficient, cost effective and available 24*7.Currently, payments for services such as electricity, telephone, mobile post-paid, broadband post-paid, gas, water , DTH ,municipal taxes, school fees and housing society maintenance charges can be paid through BBPS . Please note that this is not an exhaustive list and NPCI will be introducing more biller categories going ahead.Having your biller listed on BBPS, enables you to pay your bills through 68+ banks, 10+ payment apps and 2.5 lakh+ retail outlets. You can choose a payment method (IB, MB, UPI, etc.) of your choice and convenience. You also get instant confirmation for your payment and the method is extremely safe and secure.The BBPS logo will be displayed beside the biller name if the biller is a part of the BBPS ecosystem. Additionally, the list of live billers is available here: https://www.bharatbillpay.com/statistics/live-billersA major feature of the BBPS system is the availability of a wide variety of modes to make your bill payments. These include credit and debit cards, wallets, UPI, direct bank transfer and cash. Please note that the modes available to you will depend on the channel of your choice. For example, one payment app may allow you to use your credit card for payment but another may allow only UPI transactions. However, the choice of payment channel is entirely up to your comfort and convenience.You may pay your bills through Axis Bank by using BBPS in the following manner:

- You can also pay your bills through Axis Bank’s Internet banking facility, Axis Mobile app and through the BHIM Axis Pay UPI app. Please log in to any of these using your customer credentials.
- Click on the tab for bill payment (The BBPS logo shall be visible on your screen if the biller is a part of the BBPS ecosystem)
- Select the category of biller for which you wish to make a payment (for e.g.: electricity / school / housing society / DTH etc.) and search for your biller’s name
- Enter unique details (such as mobile number / electricity account number / student number / flat number / etc.) to see the bill amount
- Make the payment and get instant confirmation
Please ensure that you have entered the correct details for bill payment authentication (such as consumer number / account number / policy number / customer reference number, etc.). There could also be a slight delay due to some technical reasons, in which case you may please try again.The “Bill fetch” feature in BBPS does not have a timeout. If the response is not received for any reason (such as poor network connectivity), please initiate another bill fetch request. There is no cost associated with bill fetch requests.You may make an excess or deficit payment if the same is allowed by your biller.You will get instant confirmation of successful payment through Axis Bank’s IB / MB platforms or AxisPay. Additionally you may also get a confirmation from your biller through an email / SMS / notification.If the biller is on BBPS, the payment confirmation is shared immediately. However, some billers may take up to 3 days to accept payment. Please check with the biller after this time period. If the biller has not accepted your payment for any reason, a refund will be initiated.No. Cancellation of a bill payment is not allowed. In case of any disputes, you should raise the same with the biller at the earliest.In case your biller has not yet be on-boarded the BBPS platform, you may use an alternate payment option under bill payment via Internet Banking / Axis Mobile.There are no costs for making any bill payments electronically through BBPS. However, in case of transactions at agent outlets or bank branches, a suitable convenience fee may be applied.
