A biller is a service provider who receives payment from customers for services rendered.

Biller categories eligible under BBPS include Electricity, Telecom, Water, Municipal taxes, Gas, DTH, Housing societies, Educational institutions, etc.

NPCI plans to open up more biller categories going ahead. The list will be updated by the NPCI from time to time.

As a biller on NPCI’s BBPS platform, you will be able to offer your customers various payment options (both digital and physical) of their choice and convenience, thus leading to customer delight. The customer touch points for payment through BBPS platform include IB/MB platforms of 68+ banks, 10+ payment apps and 2.5 lakh+ retail outlets. Helping you enhance customer reach.

This is an economical platform and a biller can get listed easily irrespective of the size and volume of their transactions.

The BBPS platform is governed by NPCI and all entities involved in the payment settlement process are authorized by the RBI. Therefore, you have the assurance of a standardized bill payment system with guaranteed settlement cycles and adequate governance safeguards.

The entity will have to submit a duly filled “Biller Consent Form” to Axis Bank. Basis this form, we shall submit the required details of your entity to NPCI, which shall then generate a Unique Biller ID for your entity. Once the ID is generated, the entity will be visible across all payment platforms (68+ banks, 10+ payment apps and 2.5 lac+ retail outlets) thereby enabling instant bill payment collections.

Our bank representative will guide you through the entire process including required documentation through this process and will be available to answer any queries or concerns that you may have.

The NPCI has mandated that billers can be listed only through a Biller Operating Unit (BOU) and not directly.
