Citi to Axis Bank transition: UPI Handbook - Seamless adoption & new features

Amidst the Citi to Axis Bank transition, we are here with a comprehensive guide to help you navigate the latest changes on UPI and minimise interruptions. It also introduces you to the new features of Axis Bank UPI transactions, offering a smooth experience.

Understanding the changes in UPI IDs

To ensure a seamless experience with UPI, here are some key changes for our newly migrated Axis Bank customers:

1. You will need to register your new Axis Bank account on UPI to continue enjoying the services. You will have to set a new 6-digit UPI PIN which will be common across all UPI applications.

2. If you are using Third-Party Payment Application Providers (TPAPs) like GPay, PhonePe, Amazon Pay, and WhatsApp, your UPI IDs will change.

3. However, the UPI IDs will remain the same if you use Axis Mobile Banking and other TPAPs like Paytm, Freecharge, CRED, BHIM, etc.

4. Your CitiBank application will no longer be functional for UPI transactions. You will have to migrate to Axis Bank Mobile Banking “open” or any other NPCI-approved UPI app.

5. You will be unable to link your minor, HUF, or Current Accounts to UPI since this facility is currently unavailable. You can instead use other modes of payment like NEFT and RTGS for your account.

6. You can use your debit card or the Aadhaar OTP method for setting up the UPI PIN for your new account.

7. If Citibank was the only account linked to your UPI, you can sign up on Axis Mobile Banking and link your UPI number.

Registration on Axis Bank Mobile Banking app “open”

1. Login using your credentials or via Biometric Login.

2. Choose your Axis Bank account to start UPI Onboarding.

3. Create your new UPI ID and enter your Debit Card details for verification.

4. Set your PIN and UPI number to start sending and receiving money.
